Question Needs some help on choosing car deck for vw

Hey, I am totally new to this site and have some questions
I have 02 vw gti and want to get an inexpensive aftermarket car deck

Few things i want...
1. direct control ipod(charging and control; NOT aux. or etc.)
2. cheaper the better

I was looking at JVC KD PDR40 from futureshop but not they increased back to normal price..

Thanks for your help

i persoanlly like alpine...which does have the ipod plugs. but it all depends on your prefrence. i'd go look at diffferent decks at your local shops. find out what ones have the i-pod controls you want and which one you like the most. play around with the decks, see how user friendly they are and all that good stuff. the other thing to consider is are you planning on expanding your system? like adding subs and multiple amps. if you think you might expand also look for cdplayers that would have a seperate sub output a rear output. once you know where you want to end up you'll be able to find out what deck you want. if you don't want to expand your system then most decks will pretty much do anything and everything you want

Thanks for your help 95highline. I like Alpine as well, however, the price range for me a bit high compare to other decks. I am not planning to expand my audio set up so I just want some cheap price that functions what I want. Anyone else can give me some feedback?

Do you want cheap as in sketchy kwality or cheap as in a quality deck that is affordable. If you are asking us to play pin the faceplate on the cd player it generally does not work too well. If you have a budget, tell us what it is.

Kenwood makes the Excelon line starting with this deck, which will do what you want. All the decent quality brands have a comparable unit around the same price ( approx. $250 ). After that it comes down to looks and availability in your area.

You can probably find something cheaper than this, but you will get what you pay for......
