Okay so im going to be rockin' some old school stuff for now and was wondering if i should mount them in a box in the back facing the hatch of my car or if you guys can come up with something better. I have got 2 JBL GT961 (6x9 3 ways) and a second generation Punch 45, i measured out space in my trunk that allows me to still use it but not sure if this box will work or not. i made up a google sketchup 3D model of it HERE just want to add a little oomph to the stock system. Inside volume of the box would be 1.7 CU ft. not sure if this matters, it will be sealed unless you guys reccomend otherwise.

6X9's are designed to be used in doors or rear decks where they are mounted in an infinite baffle setup. The box will work, I would recommend running them sealed and separating the drivers. The extra bracing from the divider will help tighten up the bottom end but don't get your expectations for sub-bass too high......

You can go up on the airspace as well to help out with low-end extension, if you build the box larger you can always fill it back up with something until you like the sound....

I know I wasn't going to get sub level bass but the stock systems just missing a little somethng something. So you suggest sealing the mox in the middle to create 2 seperate boxes essentially?

Yes.....you will be running them in stereo and they are designed for what amounts to a very large sealed enclosure. Extra airspace is good and the further apart they are the better.....

Because the box is so wide the panels need to be braced or they will ring like a bell when you play anything loud....
