Type-X's would be nice if you could afford them, otherwise go with the Type-R's like I've got.
Good price to performance ratio but just make sure your amp can deliver the 500W needed by these subs and more.
I have a single 12" Type-R dual 2 ohm, being fed about 400W from my MTX amp and it's just not quite enough for it. I hear people run them at 700+ watts on a daily basis, considering their RMS wattage is 500W and their peak wattage is 1500W it sounds possible that they may be underrated. I intend to do that once I get my Fosgate 750s.

please dont buy Type Xs for spl, thats like buying a lambo and putting hydrolics on it, pointless and wont work out well. if you want alpine, you can burp the type Rs at 1000 watts rms each, but daily 750 would be about the max. theres kicker L7s, better for spl than any alpine. Theres mach5 and you could get 2 IXL 18"s for about 500. or Fi car audio's BTL, but you probably wouldnt want that level of sub for a begginer. The Fi SSD and BL series would be good though, 2 15" SSDs for about 500 canadian and each one handles ~800 rms to 1000rms. Soundstreams T4s are cheap but real nice. those are my top picks for cost efficient subs
