Are the New Head Units better
Hi
I own a eclipse ECD-415 that gives out 2.7V preamp out. The question is not just preamp Voltage output but sound quality. the HU is getting close to 9 yrs.
I am not sure if the DACs are 24 bit or not.
Are the NEW headunits better in terms of sound quality?
Will I be able to hear a difference by switching to (I have high end amps & speakers and a great install.):
1. nakamichi CD-400
2. Nakamichi CD-700
3. Clarion DRZ-9255
4. Denon (is it available in North America?)
Thanks

I've never liked the Clarion HU's as far as ergonomics went...
If you don't have your college degree in "Clarion logic", you'll end up having to take your eyes off the road longer than you'll have them on the road...
The Nakamichi's have always been attractive primarily for their ease of use, and their superior cosmetics - they actually match most dashboard cosmetics, don't look like a section of the Starship Enterprise drafted into your otherwise of-this-world dashboard.
Outside of that, I'd select your HU based on the features that you desire.
There's a whole lot of "snake oil" out there as regards "things that affect sound quality...
Be thankful it's not as prevelant in car audio, as it is in the high-end home audio community...
