I'm kinda a noobie to car aduio as i recently got my first car. I'm looling to upgrade the current stock setup and was thinking of ordering a set of CDT CL-61s for the front and CL-6X for the rear. I,ve heard nothing but good things about CDT and was wondering what other speakers people here suggest. Also I'll be getting an amp to power them, what amp do u guys suggest?

You've heard nothing but good things??
Great company, and there are many out there...but in all due respect this listening to people spout off "one speaker company is better than another" crap is really getting tiresome.
So what to do?
-First, what type of vehicle?
-and what type of music do you listen to?
-how loud do you like it?
-what is your budget?
-do you intend to add on to the system later or do you just want some better than stock speaks?
-will you add an amp to the speakers later?
If you answer these simple questions you will be well on you way to getting solid recomendations to speakers which are suitable...Then it is up to you to go and LISTEN to as many of them as you can with the kind of power you intend on giving them...bring music you are familiar with (this is very important)...and then choose the set which sounds the best to you...forget the branding crap, use & trust your ears!

I'd trust the real people on this board a hell of a lot more than the 'test reports' that the magazines pump out.
Sure it's preferable to be able to listen to what you are buying before you lay out the cash but it isn't always possible.

Dukk your post actually has very little to do with any of my suggestions and since your reply is so vague I don't think this thread should suffer for it...funny I didn't mention anything about magazine testimoninals so I really don't know what tree you're barking up at...and if you notice I said CDT is a good company... and so are MB and Infinity...and if u notice buddy is from Van so he should be able to listen to just about anything he wants or we as a group recommend to him...
And I'd trust the good people here just as much as you...but let's face it saying one company has awesome clarity is not going to help out buddy, but if you want to call that a suggestion which buddy here should find valuable and take to the bank that's your perogative, to me it's next to useless no offense, just the truth...you Dukk of all people being in the industry forever should know how to develop a set of pointed q's which help pinpoint probable suggestions & options to this fellow... that is if you were truly interested in helping him..???
Kuan, as a strategy maybe you'd consider this: Personally if I was you and wanted the best foundation for a system that you could add on to and not have to rip stuff out later b/c you were dissatisfied with the performance of the product there are a couple of things I would do.
1.) Invest more money now in the front drivers, b/c those will be the foundation of your system into the future. I would even go as far as saying forget the rear speakers for now and spend the whole speaker budget on the fronts...you'll find the stock speaks will do rear fill duty nicely especially if you x-over the lower frequencies out of them so they play a bit cleaner & louder, please note they will be for rear fill so they won't be critical, whereas you will hear the fronts mostly so my recomendation is to put your money there.
2.)Consider going to a 4-channel amp right off the bat, one that has built in x-overs on both front & rears as this will make tuning the system easier (if your headunit doesn't have the x-overs in it). Pick a 4 channel that can be configured in many ways to give maximum flexibility...in stage one use it to power the new fronts & rears, later when you add a sub you can bridge two of the channels and power the sub like that & switch the rears back to be powered off the deck.
3.) Later when you're ready to add multiple subs or just a dedicated sub amp, the 4-channel can drive a new set of separate tweets and mids up front and you can move the front speakers to the back...that'll be a ways off but eventually if you really like this car audio stuff you might want to splurge and get a pricier set of front comps...System planning from the beginning allowing for maximum options will save you tons of cash in the long run.
Time for bed, I'll try and think of some good value vs. performance stuff for tomorrow.

CDT is a fine price to performance product. They are always better than they should be for the price. You should listen to some competition just so you can say later on "I bought the BEST speaker available at the price point" because the product you choose with that criteria may not be the same as Dukk or Islandphile. This board is very good at helping the poor slob who lives in the middle of nowhere and has no audio stores nearby to audition equipment.
