Apparently, Islandphile needs clarification..
To which I responded that there is nothing wrong with listening to people praise gear they like. In fact, he never said that anyone indicated that CDT was better than any other brand so I have to wonder who is confused here..
I know you never mentioned magazine 'tests'. It was additional information I was using to make my point. Is that ok? If anyone seems to have an agenda on this post it would be you - first you go off about non existent brand comparisons and then you get bent about non existent information I appear to not have quoted from you
Since you want to go there.. Buddy, you have no idea how many people PM and email me a week. I try to help as many people I can as often as I can. My post was no less valid than yours so put away..
Simple fact is that there is very little likelyhood that he can actually audition CDT where he is so the internet is his best venue for information. Your suggestions for equipment selection are not bad, and for the record I never said they were, but if he has a hardon for CDT then his only option is to ask.
I have to wonder though if he had asked about Focal if your reply would have differed?
listening to people spout off "one speaker company is better than another" crap is really getting tiresome
..funny I didn't mention anything about magazine testimoninals so I really don't know what tree you're barking up at..
... that is if you were truly interested in helping him..

I think you just might be missing the entire point really...
I think you need some clarification so here: It's tiresome to hear companies being recommended on the basis of great this or that and have great clarity or whatevertraitinsert-"here" when specific questions which need to be have not been addressed. Once the context is set, comparisons and reconmendations can be drawn.
Think of the broadness of many Brands' lines, spanning from budget to exotic...how can a recomendation be made without some info about the application and needs of the Buyer. Why would you jump all over an attempt to do so?
And if you think I would just blindly recommend Focal...I would **just to get u going**
That is, if I thought the application was the right one
