New RE audio SXx magnet covers

I just got my new re audio sxx 10's today. I was wondering about the magnet cover on them. I have had re audio sx's before and they did get quite warm. They did have a vented pole piece. With these new sxx's isn't the plastic magnet cover going to impede cooling at all. Does anyone know about these new sxx's yet and how the hell do I get the covers off with cutting them.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it would affect the performance, I highly doubt RE would include it on the woofer.

The design reminds me of the new kicker subwoofers.

On another note, subs get warm for two reasons...

1. Thermal failure due to high amounts of power
2. Clipping

Youre probably right about that if re thought they would impead performance then they wouldn't include the cover. I just don't like the cover personaly but whatever. If they perform like the old sx than I doesn't matter I guess. As far as the reasons why they got warm before is probably the amount of power I am running. Hifonics bxi2006d. It probably puts out about 1700 rms. I did have my gain set correctly so it shouldn't be that. Re rates thier subs at thermal power. eg sx 10 is 1000 watts thermal. Is that the same as rms? Mabye 1700 rms is too much for 2 sx 10's. IDK.

Naw. You should be fine with that amount of power. Just make sure your electrical is up to snuff, and your not too gain happy and all should be well.

What do you have in mind for an enclosure?

I bought a box for 2 12's ( qlogic ) and am in the works of refacing it for 2 10's. The air space would be perfect match at 1.25 cubes minus displacement ( about 1.17 cubes ) each and it is tuned to 37 hz which is 2 hz off what re recommends. The box is the biggest air space I can get in my car ( genesis coupe ). I will wall it off facing all forward into the cabin. Here is a pic of the box. I also have the big 3 done with 0/1 g wire. I will let these ones break in good. That might have been the prob with the last ones.
