Why not??...it's fun watching the same typo's pop up up over and over and over.....

BTW, I agree that a change in Model (at the very least) is required to justify spending more money....IMHO

im going to buy the subs online and cheapest type r's are on ebay for 89$US each
W6V2's are 200$US each
not that i will get them from ebay, but so far this appears to be the cheapest upgrade/option
also i dont know how other subs will work with my current box which i dont want to upgrade.
also the way im looking at this is : 500WRMS for x 2subs = 1000W which is exactly what MRD-M1005 provides (well lol SHOULD provide )

any other subs with more wattage would be overkill? correct?

The key point here is not price or how many watts the speakers will handle....if you are serious about upgrading your subs, you have to take the box into consideration. It will probably be fairly difficult finding new subs with comparable T/S specs to the old ones that will sound any better than what you have right now. I'm sure you will be happier selling the old box and subs together and using the money towards new equipment that works together the way it's supposed to......

Consider the fact that since you are using the word "upgrade" you may need to (and it is highly recommended in most cases) build a new enclosure for your new drivers.

Building an enclosure for what YOU want from your subs is what you should be considering and not what Alpine has decided to mass produce in their pre-fabbed enclosure's. It is quite possible that your current drivers are perfectly capable of giving you the performance you desire at this point and the only upgrade you need is an enclosure for them that suit's your taste better.

i was just hoping that new type r's might be a bit of an upgrade that i can use for low amount of money put in with same equipment.

but good point!
unfortunately im not going to build box myself as i dont know how to
and only place it town that does it is audiovideo who charge 150$ and up for boxes.

im thinkin that im gonna end up getting new type r's regardless and see what happence as $ is the main factor here for me.
thanks for the input guys!

the new typr r woofers work well in those boxes, a new box would be better but if cash is the big issue right now, get the woofers as it will be an immediate improvement over the old woofers even in the same box. build a new box in the future and you can get far better perfromance over your old woofers besides power handling, but in the meantime you will be just fine and will notice a big difference right away
