So as you all know,I have been on the hunt for a new car...was hoping to pick up another Sunbird,but found a deal I had a hard time passing up..yes...even though I really couldn't afford it..lol
Found this ad online.."89 Chrysler Dynasty, 4dr, 349kms, as is was $188, final close out price $90, 243-****"So I went and had a look...it was at one of these"WE GIVE CREDIT TO EVERYONE!!"places.
Needs some repairs of course..new rockers,some floor board repairs,and possibly some tranny work..
I asked for the keys to start it up...NO KEYS!!LOL....
So..I looked it over a bit more..the thing has air,cruise,tilt,delay wipers.Interior,other than being dirty as hell,is in excellent shape.Has an older style Command Start in it,but no remote..The sales guy tells me the motor is done for..finished...but figured get a junkyard motor for like $100..away we go...
I offered him(on advise from a friend)$25..he laughed at me...after some dealing...I got it for $60!!LOL [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]
I had it towed home here,cleaned the crap out of it,and did some tinkering with the steering column to try and get it started..no luck...
Then I realized that I had a newer style CS unit in the house.Took the thing and was a direct plug in..hooked up booster cables...couple clicks on the remote..VROOM!!..away she went..!! [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]
Other than a miss in it,it runs like a top.no knocks,smoke or explosions..even the AC works!!The heater blows like a blast furnace...Everything seems functional so far!!
I have discovered a small trans leak and small coolant leak as well...but minor details right now....I still need a key!!Can't get it out of park..can't move it...all I can do is run the thing in 5 min. incriments...
I will get a key for it sooner or later..but may wait til after the Winnipeg trip...
I also need to find out if it needs any type of inspection done(Out of Povince,Etc).I don't know any history on this thing...I am thinking it was a repo or something like that..but time and the DMV will tell sooner or later...LOL..These will be the big factors as to weather I keep it or not...if it needs an inspection..OFF TO THE AUCTION!!and hope I can make a few bucks on it!!
Anyway,let me know what you all think...with some doing,you think it could be a good SPL car?or should I get away from it asap?

I'm coming to Winnipeg to take care of a family matter.

I will be in town on the night of July 13 til the early morning of July 21.

oO0DIALING0Oo and I will be touching base somewhere and cruising.

I'm hoping to take an afternoon and go around to the different stereo shops and give them a demo of this setup of mine....you know...just for a good laugh more than anything....I think it would be fun.

Well, for $60 you can at the very least part the thing out and make alot more money! Even a junkyard would probably give a you a couple hundred for it. Does it have the V6? If so, there is a Yahoo Groups message board for cars with that motor. I'm on it cuz of my Daytona. These cars are fairly simple to work on and parts aren't too expensive. If you bust off the ignition lock cylinder, starting the car is super easy with a screwdriver. I know cuz my car got stolen and I had to drive it for a couple days with one after I got it back. Apparently it just takes breaking the weak collar holding the lock in. I'd say keep it and do it up as a dragger. Lots of back seat room for a big **** wall. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
