No AM signal on new Pioneer deck

I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB. After installation I noticed that only the FM band was working. The AM was just fuzz. What could be the cause? I listen to baseball on AM (a favourite pastime). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you plug in the ant in the back ?? maybe you need an ant booster on your car.... or you didnt connect the power ant lead.... WHAT KIND OF CAR IS IT ???

I had the same problem with a sony deck and a new (to me) car. Honda civics have some sort of amplified antenna that needs 12 volts. It seemed the power antenna lead on my deck didn't provide constant power, so I got it from another lead. Then my amplified antenna would turn on and I could get signal.
