Wanting a HD signal...bell express view? shaw cable?
#1
Hey folks!
I picked up an ok hdtv a bit back,a nd i'm finally convinced that i wuoldn't mind having some sort of HD signal coming into the house for it.
Currenlty in my house, my landlords have what i believe is regular shaw cable (we pay nothing for, but i get it) and then in our living room down here, my bro has bell express view off an older non-hd receiver.
What do you guys have that offers HD, who offers the most channels, and what type of costs am i generally looking at??? It doesn't have to be between those two, they're simply the only one's i've ever had any experience with.

We have the Bell 9200 reciever which is pretty hard to come by right now, we were told it was one of three available in BC at the time. Anyways, it is a HD/PVR reciever which means, it is high def, and it can record up to 180 hours of TV. At first I thought the PVR was more of a gimick than anything, but once you have it, you wont go back. You can pause TV for bathroom breaks, phone calls, door bells, whatever, or you can record your favorite shows while at work...it's pretty cool IMO. High def is sweet as well, on our big screen (100") it has a much better picture than the DVD player, the image is stunning...
Costs, well the reciever was $600 and the programming is $10 extra for the high def channels, 27 in total. The channel selection kinda sucks right now, but watching sports in HD more than makes up for it.
I believe the regular Bell/SC HD reciever is about $300 or so, and you don't have to pay extra for the SC HD package, but there are fewer channels.
If you go high def, make sure your TV is up to the task, you'll love it...

tv is definitely up...i've been looking at the HD receivers about $290ish for bell. PVR's yeah pretty expensive, i dunno if i could currenlty justify that much on a receiver. (tv kinda already drained me of all the money lol)

Good to know.
Curiour - what kinda coin do you folks pay monthly for bell? I realize there's probably 9 billion packages, but generally what do you pay for yours? furthermore, i'm assuming bell has gotten past their little pirate card scam they had going on...or people had against them?

hmmm
flippin thru the channels the other day, after watching las vegas on 54, i kept going up and turns out 56.7 is an HD feed. Errr it shows in 720p anyways. It looks flippin sweet! Sadly there's no sound to go along with it. But it all pushes me to wanting to get HD of some sort.
