noob! I am confused
CLARION!!! hello are we missing out on the most inportant brand here.
get the XW1000 10" proaudio sub. it should be right in your price range. it's last years modle and most stores should still have some instalk. if you tune the box right you should get a awsome sounding box.

Are you completely ignorant of what quality is ?
So I will answer his post rather than deflect it and tell him to go to XS-crap. If you are comparing the Future Shop product it is clear to me this year that MTX is a large step above what RF offers.
I would ask the feedback of the Salesmen in the store. Is there any concern over warranty history on either? Make your own informed decison.
I get scared with some of the opinions of board members here. Someone told me once to buy a Beyond Audio woofer. I said Why? they said because they are the best and my buddy hit like 150 with em Why is it every recommendation revolves around how many DB the woofer hit?
Umm sound quality anyone?

if you build that box right, it will sound good for most types of music.
BTW, what kind of amp is it?
The reason I ask is that my recommendation would be to run all your speakers(except the 6X9s) off the amp with passive crossovers. If it is a decent amp, it will handle mixed mono operation without problems.
Hey slownlow... I hear what you are saying dude... I wouldnt be surprised if the MTX had better build quality, but I bet it wouldnt be anything major....
I think the cliff designs subs, or hell, even the $35 rockbox subs they have would compair to the MTX at a fraction of the cost....
If you can say with definity why the MTX is a better SQ sub then I will consider that its a better choice... but Iam unconvinced that it would be anything special... (although 13.5mm one way Xmax is impressive for a sub rated at 300wrms)
Id personally rather have 2 subs with compairable Xmax and a larger amp for the same price of that single sub.....
