Single voice coil. The paper tabs that have the wiring terminals on them have a second wiring terminal that is not connected to anything.

I remember this sub! A local guy had 8 of them (clam shell style) in an extended cab Ford Ranger. It actually sounded pretty good. He was putting about 200 watts per pair to them. I'm guessing the sub is rated at around 125-150 watts RMS? Should still sound ok a 60-80 watts if you're using the other speakers powered by the HU.

The lower power might be a good thing. Who knows how well the rubber ring has held up over the years. Could be dried out and crack easily. I've never seen this on a 12" woofer before. But I've seen it on a pair of 6" home stereo speakers. Blew the foam rubber right apart and the cone was completely loose.

I may pick it up anyway. Probably should, coz I did make the guy an offer and he accepted. Seems like it would be a nice thing to have, just as, you know, a thing. Like my old Concord amp and a/d/s speakers that date from when I initially flirted with car audio almost 30 years ago. Difference is they still sound frickin' amazing and I am planning to use them. And geez it's not like I don't have things already. Working on trying to unload the two subs I already bought and don't want now. Third time may be the charm. Bought a Type R in a surprisingly hefty box from a kid in Kingston yesterday (much gratitude to n-sanity for his guidance and patience). Think I may stick with this one. Gotta stop letting my plan outstrip my acquisitions.

So, whaddya'll think? Pick up another sub not to use and wind up stuck with, trying to flog later on--or just man up to the guy and tell him I don't want it. I can tell him its the 8 Ohm thing, and really it is. Or was. Still pretty new at this, and still haven't really turned a screw in anger, so any input from those of you further up the food chain is very much welcome.
