They arnt total ****... but there are much better companies out there IMO...

Anyone catch the guy on carsound who was totally pissed cause they dont offer recones for anything but the solox... they just told him to 'upgrade' and take and shove his $500US x 4 paper weight L7s up his arse...

Brandon 03-05-2005 07:34 PM

hahahaha.

You're so full of ****.

My solo's HAVE recones there cheif. There 2 year old recones, the originals got torn up from what, I dunno.

Don't even give me that crap, I know for a fact Kicker does recones.

Yea, you're right, there's better companies out there, But for the price, Kicker walks all over JL.

And if you wanna bring up audiobahn, they have decent product for the price also....not up to par with Kicker but good entry level stuff, there higher priced equiment is also pretty respectable.

HAHAHAHAHA, Bring W6's Haunz, the simple fact is that Kicker is an all around better sub and costs FAR less than JL.

BTW you seem to do a lot of this well, I'll let you in on a little secret dude, pulling on it, doesn't make it grow.....sorry.

Well said Rob, very well said. Haunz, you should listen to this guy, he seems to know hes talking about!!!

I'm still blown away by the kicker ZR series of amps, they are nutty good, especially for the price they fetch on ebay today.

The very first time I met Rob V.O. , I was 17, working at Cash Converters. He was in his older brown dodge colt, with 4 Kicker Solo 12's. each in a small sealed box, he had 4 of them, and it was pushing high 140's easily, I've yet to hear such sh*t rattling bass. It was nuts, I literally collapsed when I left his car, it made so dizzy, I just about 'd
Dont say to me the older Kicker Solo's are garbage, experience means more then irrelevant opinion

Too bad your so far away from me Haunz, I'd be as bold to compare two 12 W3's to my Single Vifa 12, and then compare results. I remember reading that a W6 8"er had a whooping 83 db/watt/meter effeciency, wow theres a winner  My Vifa is 97. I'd be glad to compare ANY JL W6 10,12,15 to my Vifa anyday. Funny part is, is that my Vifa cost $87 new. NOt bad for a sub that REGULARILY takes 1000 watts RMS from my Kicker 500SI. SO whats this about Kicker being crap? Maybe I just dont get it, but explain to me, since I'm VERY proud of Kicker

FYI, my buddy dave had those xpls in his first system on a zapco ag350.. they sucked azz.. he later upgraded to solos but the dumb azz kicker dealer sold him a 4ohm and an 8ohm sub for some reason... funny story, same guy bought L7s and a kx1200 After having THREE bad amps(from a bad factory run) he got a good one... after 3monthes he tore the leads out of the L7s (which I fixed) and sold them.. they were in .8cubes each (supposed to be fine according to kicker) and sounded like hot azz... I can imagine how long they would have lasted in a good sized box..

I have a few more experiences I could share... and they dont get much better...

About what I expected as a response from you.
Uneducated to the importance of proper amplification and installation.
Anyways, Rob I hope the info I gave you earlier helps you out and as you can see from the input from user's with proper installation of these that you have gotten a good deal on some nice drivers.

Wow..I didnt expect the thread to turn out to be a debate ....

thanks for the info guys. When I get my box made, I'll post some pics.

I agree. I had two twelve inch XPL's from about '99. Had them for three years. Blew them one day finally because I had unhooked them and rehooked them up wrong. So my fault.

Now I run two twelve inch Comp VR's 2003 model. And they run and sound awesome. Never would have had a problem with the XPL's if it hadn't been for my own stupidity. Kicker ownS!

MrEastSide 03-06-2005 09:50 AM

BTW I think JL makes fantastic equipment. But, it is far overpriced for what you get. I had a pair of W6's in about 1999. Very nice sub. However, the 225.00 each was a little steep for a measly 300 watts RMS. Needless to say I got rid of them and went to the XPL's which gave me 500 RMS each for a little cheaper then the JL's.

Then I got my Comp VR's online brand new for dirt cheap. You don't find JL's online for much cheaper than you can find in your local stores. But I got my VR's for like 100 bucks cheaper for each sub on the net.
