I don't know about Orion amps "sounding" any better than another brand but they are excellent amplifiers. Why? Simply because they do what their designed to do (and in some cases more than that).

If I recall, the XTR9002 is 450W amp (2x225W 4 Ohms), which is alot of power for a component system. It would definitely work but I think it might be overkill.

IMO, the more power the better for front components (as long as the speakers can handle it).

^^^ I agree. Lot's of headroom and never a clipped signal will keep things sounding excellent and dynamic.

I have used Orion amps for years with very few issues to speak of. The legendary thermal problems from a few years back caused some grief for a few people, but as long as you kept them cool, they did exactly what they said they did. The XTR series has built-in X-overs that are lacking on my SX series amps, but they will deliver all the clean power you could ask for... If you plan on using that amp for components, better have some pretty beefy front end speakers...it would be excellent for running a 3way set if you decide to go that route.

Thanks for the opinions. Much appreciated.
I decided to go with the Orion XTR9002.

It will run either a high power 2 or 3-way comp set but for now it will power The Orion's and Crystal's with the gain turned down.

Thanks for the help.
