You might want to look into more power if you are trying to get more volume out of speakers.
the 10w6v2's are only rated at 400rms. i think i'm giving them enough power.

This is true, I just mean if you are looking for more output in general, you might want to also consider more power and a new sub(s).

Just my opinion though. I would think 2 JL 10w6's would be pretty loud anyways.

more power - your zapco is not pushing anywhere near the limit for 2 w6v2's(if 400wrms@4ohm each) - 2 x 500/1 zapco with gains adjusted accordingly so you have lots of headroom would be the way to go.

i think i'm putting them near their limits. i can bottom them out pretty easily. with the idmax's xmax at 24.6 compared to the w6v2's xmax of 15.2, wouldn't that = more spl?

r u going to be using the same amps? if so not worth it to switch out... w6's sound just like w7's up to 500ish watts.. idmax is very efficient but if you feedin each 500 each still not enough...

My friend had 2 10w6's off a 600 Watt amp and took them out and replaced them with the Image Dynamics IDMAX and went up 1.9db. This was the same amp and the same style box (sealed). We ported the box and went up another 2.4Db. The IDMAX kicks butt.

if you're bottoming out with the zapco on the 2 JL subs it is NOT because of the power but the signal -> put a subsonic filter on it and remove say below 25 hz. Have a look at this thread from audioholics

Whoopdedoo, a whole 1.9 dB is very little in the real world, and not a very good return on the investment for daily driving. Sure 1.9 dB means the difference between first place and last place in SPL comps some days, but I would not spend much money to gain that much in a daily driver. </font>[/QUOTE]his idmax was cheaper than his 2 w6's. it was louder and sounded better also.
