Passive woffer ??

Hope this dosent sound to stupid but what exactly does a passive woffer do and how would it work in a cars aplication? I tried a search but came up with more confusion. Thanks

A "passive radiator" is a drone subwoofer with no electrical connection.
The purpose of this "dead" woofer is essentially the same as the port on a ported box.
The mass of the woofer acts the same as the mass of air in a port.
This enables the rasdiator to tune the box to a specific frequency much like the port.
