I don't expect everyone to be experts, but of course, many people are experts.

Last year, a guy I know tried explaining to me that crossovers (active) make your subs louder and deeper. I said, maybe a bass cube. But he had a few dumb reasons why this works about lower where the bass starts...

Oh yeah, I overheard this guy in Wal-Mart telling his wife they couldn't buy a computer game for this newphew or whoever cause " You need to know what kind of hard drive he has, what kind of Video he has and if he has a CD or DVD drive". I just snickered and walked away.

Also, I heard a GM salesmen trying to exlpain traction control once by saying "When a tire starts spinning the engine increases torque to that wheel"

I seriously don't get everyones attitude about this. I mean, so the guy doesn't know his stuff. Big deal.

I'm sure I could talk circles around a few people here about what I do for a living, and vice versa.

^^^ Here's a perfect example. While the guy might sound dumb right off the bat he kinda makes sence. (Depending on what game he's looking at)

First you do need to know what kind of HD the kid has. If he's got an older PC without much drive space then a lot of games will just kill his system. (700+MB installs)

Also need to know what kind of video card he has because the game may require a certain calibre of 3D accelerator that he doesn't have.

Now the DVD/CD thing is about the only thing that you could really fault him for, but wtf. At least the guy knows enough to be aware that if the game came on DVD that he wouldn't be able to play it if he only has a CD-Rom. (he just didn't know that there really aren't any games that come exclusively on DVD).

So now I can snicker at you because you've shot your mouth off without really knowing what's up?

So why don't we all just drop the 'holier than thou' attitude and cut people some slack. I'm sure you all said some pretty stupid stuff when you were first learning about car audio.

I deal with people like that all the time.Got a guy at work with a Benz, hes done his own install, claiming he's been "doing this for years".
His amps weren't mounted down, wiring was..brrr..dont een want to go there..his gains were turned right up to max...it was a nightmare..I showed him a couple things and tricks and now he says when hes ready to do a good install,he wants me to help him...
Like somebody else said before..I'm still a noob to this all,but at least I do some research or get someone elses input if I'm not sure..

Everyone starts of as a noob, same here I didn't know too too much a little while ago, but I didn't pretned like I knew anything either. I just read/listened to what people told me, eventually, you can learn a LOT from just talking to people, and reading stuff on forums, it's what I did.
But plain a simple, some people don't know ****, and they pretend like they do, and just make an *** outta themselves, those people bug me.
Here's some funny stuff to read, about a member on CAF who thinks he's a know it all, a couple of people made some sites about his sayings, these are funny
