I'm still confused...I'd like to see this farting hamster.

farting hamster, or fat guy with explosive dihhrea either way, a bad install sounds nasty, and a good install will still sound nasty if you blow the drivers.

The moral of the story is install right, and don't distort or overpower.

why would i want a ported enclosure for 15" subs, do you want me to have fluffy bass ? i wanted some accurcy, i allways choose sealed.

And phoenix gold is not just a "little" more expenive than rockford , its about 500-1000 dollars more expensive, now i think its because the amps are built using military spec electronic components, and they use the same circuirtry as the more higher end home amplifier systems use. So in the end phoenix gold is built better. Thats my opininon now.

and yah.. rockford did sell out.. and phoenix gold is made in the USA,

AND EVEN IF HIS SUBS POUND MORE.. HES TELLING ME HIS SQ IS BETTER TOO.. AND THAT DONT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME.

No offence intended dude, but your opinion is 100% incorrect as it applies to the Canadian marketplace. I could go into the real reasons why but this is a hilarious thread, why would I want to screw up other peoples opinions and perceptions. Both are equal companies.

Mrblob19, please stop, its to bad that your not properly informed,I mean no disrespect really, maybe ask questions instead of saying "what you know?"

theres alot of grey area out there..

You want to be loud, ported box. Wont be soo fluffy if you build it right. The sound of sealed box sounds like your system will "max" its self out. But thats becouse I dont like sealed... I want to be loud, I will port my box. Pg is way better the RF IMO, becouse well I seen alot of the amps go bye bye with smoke poring out of them, havent seen a pg do that yet (not saying they are the strongest) Rf's style is crap to.. And Pg is looks like its heading that way to? Wire is wire IMO. Build the set up right, give your amp(s) the power they need to run the 15s, port that damn box (or kiss your rf friends ass) and then be loud.... Then go back to sealed after if you want... Oh well

properly tuned ported boxes have just as much accuracy as a sealed box. they hit harder too .......... again install install install

oh yeah, not all PG amps are made in the USA anymore ......those were the old days

designed or engineered in the USA does not mean built there ;)

both companies make product all the way from entry level crap to high end ........ so it depends on wich specific models are used

just though I might add IMO there are a lot better products out there than either one of those 2 brands, but that's just my opinion

oh yeah just incase your wondering how biased I am, I used to be one of the biggest PG fans around ........ then I finally got tired of paying the way overinflated prices the canadian PG distributor(trends I believe) charges for PG in canada ........... last PG products I had were a zx350 amp and a pair of xmax subs NICE stuff but way overpriced IMO

Rockford looks way better this year. Rockford and PG both manufacture stuff in the U.S. and offshore. I have seen an equal amount of almost any product fail due to manufacturer defect, 90% of problems are ghetto installs, and I am sure more people ghetto install Rockford than PG.

As for sealed vs. ported, as you go above tuning frequency the box acts more and more like a sealed box, so sealed is good, ported is better, unless it doesn't fit. The most accurate box I have built in a few years was a big ported box for a pair of 15's.

unbelievable that the only pg amps made in states anymore are the ltd edition ms amps, all others, even the new xenon are made offshore(korea),not that that is bad, but back in the day everyone bragged about made in usa, remember the streetwires/pg war of words in every magazine (car audio related), about 10 years ago

Sassmaster 05-13-2004 08:19 AM

Made in USA means that they moved the machinery from korea to the USA, and had a unionized worker watch it go for 40 bucks an hour, instead of having some korean kid watch it for 40 bucks a year.
