i didn't freak when i got it.... instead I got guys talking ****. I was open to opinion, now people telling me 2 15" subs in sealed box.. will pound less than 2 12" subs in ported box. Keep in mind, the 2 12" subs are rockford 500watts of rms handling, and the pg's are 650 watts rms handling. Lets be serious now, whose to say My box is not even tuned? whose to say his box is crazy? you have to many unidentified varibles and your making conclusions. Im saying, if they were both powered fully.. and if they both had boxes equally well built.

I have to say that "wattage" rating on a sub has nothing to do with it's output level
there's still too many variables to give you an answer................. woofer efficiency and cabin gain are just 2 of the many variables that will affect output
you wanna know who's will hit harder, sound better, be louder ect....
put em side by side, listen to em both and decide for yourself ...........

If you want a real world example, we attended an SPL competition two years ago with a Chevy s_10 extended cab with 500 watts RMS and a single 12 inch MTX sub. We hit 144.7. One of our competitors had 2 15 inch Kicker L7's with a JBL BP1200 on each one, he hit slightly lower, I think 142.7 or something. So as you can see 1 twelve with around 600 watts can "outpound" 2 15's with 2400 watts.

Good topic going here .. I like PG but they are overpriced (high markup) by Trends. Sealed boxes are obviously more forgiving in build design, and can have a more even frequency response (better SQ). Plus they take up less room and did I mention they are hella easier to build [img]smile.gif[/img] .. on that note I've always used ported because Dukk said so [img]tongue.gif[/img] .. j/k

Wow. before you just step into CCA.com, you better realize something. Nobody on here just makes hudge crazy systems to impress gurls, the build them to crush other scores and to have fun while they learn how to hit a higher dB+. second that dukk guy, watch your mouth.. He is probably one of the smartest people on this board, and that follows alot more then half of the people on here... And who built the box? Someone else for you? THEN ITS NOT CUSTOM. how can something be custom if YOU did not build it? if someone did it for you, consider it prefab. Dont come on this board and star crizitzin people becouse you want to know what is better... Learn a couple things then come back....

I do not know what your freind has , but what you have in yours is what i have in mine. it hits loud as hell and is not by any means the loudest but it's loud enough to make your ears hurt. i got 1 amp and 2 woofers. but it is not just the gear that makes it loud or crystal clear it is the install. If your freind thinks it sucks a$$ then he must not be a great installer. Cause his stuff must sound like A$$. I think that any of the great(even good) installers on here can make PG or RF or radio shack equipment sound great. and loud. Id say it's the install. i favor Pg cause it is great stuff for what we are doing. Personall rockford is what i used to use. and now that i have sampled both , i like my PG. It cost allot cause they tool the heat sinks in the us, and they make many of th parts in the us.
They are well built. and specific to what you might need it to be. Draw your own conclusions from what your ears tell you. sample the pics below and excuse the spelling, i was tired

I think PG costs lots particularly in Canada because the CDN distributor (Trends) has a retarded high markup on PG. At least that was my observation a few years ago. If you want PG for a decent price you need to buy used, on eBay or online for the states. And yes of course install plays the biggest factor. I think 2 15s with enough power regardless of ported or sealed, but a properly designed box should be plenty loud to help you lose your hearing [img]smile.gif[/img]

mrblob I bet my two Titanium 12s with 1,000 watts in a ported box would have been way louder then your two 15s. If you want cold hard numbers, it seems to generally accepted that a ported box can add anywhere from 3 to 9 decibels depending on who you ask, and you are going to gain maybe a decibel or two tops going from 12s to 15s. 10dB is perceived as being twice as loud.

Your friend's system is going to be almost twice as loud. I am getting a couple 15s and putting them in sealed boxes soon; then I'll let you know how much volume I'm going to end up losing.
