Picking out new subs...
Hey, looking for some advice on a single or dual sub to replace my old system.
I used to have a Phoenix Gold X10D4 (450 wrms), and I still have my Alpine MRP-650 (450wrms at 4 ohms, 600w rms at 2 ohms).
I have been debating replacing the system with 1 10", 2 10's, or 1 12". I have a budget of about 200$. Ideally I could still use my alpine amp for nwo and upgrade a bit closer to the summer.
I am looking to get around 1000 wrms out of two subs or 800 ish out of 1?
or am i way off in terms of what i need? i will be listening to mostly rap and techno, all of my door speakers have been upgraded, and my power system will be able to handle the said upgrade.
ideas? i was looking at getting 2 crunch gp10d2's or gp10d4's (500wrms) or similar.... i don't mind buying used..

I would recommend a mach5 audio IXL 12.2.2. I ordered one for my new install. It would fit your requirements quite well. You could wire it into a 4 ohm load with your alpine amp (with 450 watts it will still pound), and upgrade to 1000 watt amp down the road. Great SQ with the ability to pound when needed.

We'll start with the basics here. You don't get wattage out of subs. their power rating has nothing to do with how loud them will be or how they will perform. The wattage rating of any speaker is just it's ability to dissipate heat.
With your budget, your really not going to get anything that would be any significant improvement..
Keep the amp, get a single 12" sub in a custom ported box designed for your car and sub and go from there

probably, it would be a tight squeeze but i probably could depending on the size of the enclosure needed.
i 99% want to go sealed, i love the tightness of a sealed box.
i was looking at a DB DRIVE PT12D4 (750wrms dvc4ohm) has anyone had experience with these subs / hows the sq/ reliable? how do they sound?
for the price of the PT12D4 i could get it plus a set of replacement 6x9s for the rear deck which would be fun.
