ya it's to bad you don't have the slightest clue what's going on either...
did you even look at those pics?
that box will not become airborne to the extent of causing bodily harm unless he fell of a bridge or cliff of sorts...
also say he back-ended someone, stock seats can handle a surprising amount of pressure so the box isn't going to push through him or something...
the situations you are refering to are situations involving smaller boxes, his box probably weighs a good 100 pounds and is also quiet large... do the math...
sorry your posts really bugged me...

Actually if you know physics you would realize heavier boxes are worse than small ones. Basically the problem is that when the vehicle comes to a stop from say 40 kmh in five seconds the box keeps coming at you at it's previous rate of speed. What would you rather have hit you, a 200 pound object moving 40 kmh or a 50 pound object moving 40 kmh. Neither for me thanks!

Bear in mind a sobering fact that Adelaide's Milford Industries (Australia's largest manufacturer of cargo barriers) makes in many of its brochures - the rapid deceleration that occurs in a 48 km/h frontal crash increases the effective mass of all loose objects by 20 times. That means a stray 15kg toolbox has a collision mass of 300kg and the average 20kg subwoofer box strikes with a massive 400kg. So you've got a 60kg engine block sitting 'temporarily' in the cargo area of your hatchback? This has a collision mass of some 1200kg!
I cut /paste from article on cargo barriers

with the hole accident thing depending on the type of accident is what u have to worry about, if somebody were to hit u from the side into something or w/e and push that side in the box break open or somethin because of pressure therez not a lot of room at all angles of that spot of the box and size, and then let ur imagination do the rest. I've been in an accident recently and therez a lot of chain reaction crap if u saw the looks of the one side of my car. And the guy didnt even hit me that hard apparently. What if ur to flip over roll the car or w/e, that box is gonna be movin.
Other than that dude its a nice box nice setup, nice work. Sorry just puttin in my 2 cents, not meaning to **** anyone off.

i do know physics...
lol
and basically the meaning of all this jibber-jabber is: bolt, tie, and fasten your cargo down...
anything can happen in an accident, and really there's no way to predict what it may be...

yah my one friend got into an accident and his sub box built for 2 alpine type r's pushed right through the back seat and into teh back of them . injuring the 2 in teh car veryt bad. and that was with the back seat up! so its very easy for a box to get moving very fast. jsdut be carefull and avoid head on collisins. or hitting trees ect... lol

It wasnt a sub box but my uncle had some wood in the back of his nissan pickup and went of the road.
Once piece came in through the back window and out through the windshield.
