Pimp my Ride, king of hacks ????

It seems like the theme of the show is to put some bling bling rims on it, a tv in the trunk (who watches tv from the trunk of your car? like seriously...) something stupid related to the person who's car it is, ie previously mentioned espresso machine, put in some crappy power acoustik dvd player, doll is up with some more rice, and voila!

i think the starts get the proper work done, or atleast i hope so.
the pimp my ride thing is all on contract which which indicated that all the mods of a vehicle must to fit into a certain budget. say its a $25,000 per car or something. so those guys have to fit parts and labour into that ammount, not to mention the opportunity cost, so obviously they gonna cut every possible corner.
i was watching another show about all the famous custom shop and apperantly west coast customs does some very nice work for the real customers like Shaq O'Neal and other guys of his caliber.

I thinkt hey are also trying to make the show 'unique' to an extent.
I mean, tehy could probably do a pretty sweet , clean install on each car, but then the average viewer would probably tune out after 3 or 4 shows.
I have liked a few that they have done.
I mean, they have to entertain, as it is a TV show.
If they spent the entire 1/2 hour showing the amount of bodywork they do to most of these, or the paint schemes, then the show wouldnt exactly be entertaining to the average MTV viewer.
Maybe we would like to see the technical side, or a MORE technical side, but I think they are more out to make 'fun' vehicles than technically sound machines.

Well they're probably not paid a tonne of cash.. and they have a set ammount of time to do it in.
I'm sure that for them it's just a big commercial and all they care is getting something flashy and cool out there. Regardless of the quality involved.
Every minute spent on one of those beaters is a minute taken away from a $30,000 job. I don't think I'd be giving it my all either.

A friend of mine is the director of Security for DEI down in CA and I was talking to him about Pimp My Ride cause he works really close with them on the show and the product used in the show. MTV pays for the show, the filming, the crew to create and produce the show......................everything else is paid for by WCC. They went to MTV and pitched the idea to them. WCC just moved into a new HUGE shop with a certain area set aside just for filming the show. The guys that you see on the show, that is pretty much their job now....................
As for day to day "Star" customers, they don't get much better, a buddy of mine in Atlanta does the repair work for WCC's east coast customers and he has sent me pictures that would make you puke of the behind the scenes in some of those cars........................he fixes them and sends the bill to WCC, they have no problem paying....................in alot of cases they show the customer their work and they just redo the car.......................
They will charge $50,000 with gear US for a job that I wouldn't charge more then $20k CDN..................it's all big boxes with plexi and trim panels to the sides...............
Check out the edges and fit and finish on this prototype they built for GM !
Nasty stuff !
