^ By venting exhaust gases under the car there is a possibility of the gasses affecting the passengers. I wouldn’t get my underwear in a wad over this unless your eyes sting when you are in the car.
I agree with poster formerly known as Foof, a pinhole shouldn’t make much noise but exhaust pinholes are like ****roaches (if you see one you have hundreds hiding). What does a muffler cost $25 bucks, U-bolts $8? The muffler tape is a stop gap but if a muffler is too pricey right now…

^Hmmm the auto-edit did not like the actual name of the roach in question... I wasn’t cursing or even being suggestive, but now we are all thinking naughty thoughts so stop it! Auto morality says so!

if you cant actually SEE the hole...chances are that it isnt causing the noise.

I would also check the exhaust gaskets and flanges at the engine and on both sides of the catalytic converter and the muffler. These tend to rot pretty great on GM's, for some reason. I went through like six gaskets and two flanges in two years on my Cutlass...my mechanic mentioned something about me driving a beater and being cheap...?

if it does break take it to an exhaust shop - if it is patchable they wil patch it, odd are they will try to sell you a bigger job but just be honest and tell them that the car has to last a month or 2 ... a patch shouldnt cost more than say $30-50...

If you won't be driving it that much longer, then don't worry about it.
