I know someone who might be selling a pioneer HU for cheap.
Thing is the faceplate isn't working properly.
The deck works, but the display (one of the one with screensavers on it) is just black, doesn't work.
Just wondering if this would be an epensive repair (I would think so) just wondering if anyone else has had, or heard of this problem.

 

I had to replace the one in my P1 last year and the display is quite large on it. At the start it would flicker, light to darker, then after a few months it was just gone.
The new display screen from Pioneer was ~$20 and installation at Custone Autosound in Whitby was ~$55 on top of that.
I would contact Pioneer to check on the part number and price if that is the problem.

 

is the problem in the face plate or the deck? you can buy a face plate on ebay for pretty cheap. I have a deck like that pioneer 6400, bring me the deck we can try my face plate to see what the problem is.

 

Yeah yuli this is a 6400 also, no the deck works, like if u put a cd in it, it will play, the screen doesn't power up though, but it's not broken (ie cracked)

 

lol johnny, the problem could still be in the deck, bad connection to the face plate, or the face plate it self could be bad.

if anything, i know face plates from ther similar pioneer decks will work as well. Here try this LINK

 

I dunno man I don't have it here I can't tell u exactly! lol
but if i can grab it for a decent price, then maybe I'll get it fixed who knows, I'm going to find out tonite.

 

The problem was the faceplate, I got 2 pictures of it, one is of the back, you can't really tell from the picture, but the the top left part in the pcture, there's a piece that snapped off, so it doesn't "hook" well to the unit.




The second problem, is that the display actually has a tiny crack, in the picture, liike at the bottom right corner of the DISPLAY and u can see the crack, and it kinda looks like it goes onto the screen, but u can only see it in a certain light, and I couldn't really get a good pic of that. But you can see the crack in the picture.



So basically it looks like the faceplate is pretty much un fixable, and I need to get a new one, which is ok. I plan on trying to get a newer 6500 plate, wonder if it'll work?
