pioneer slim sub power handling

I am looking at getting a 10 inch pioneer IB flat slim subwoofer for my truck. The amp I have will put out 580 watts RMS at 2 ohms and 424 watts at 4 ohms. The 2 ohm sub says it will take 300 watts RMS and 1200 watts max. Will the sub handle 580 watts or should I just get the 4 ohm version? I am only running 1 sub so wiring them down is not an option. Sub is also Running in a small sealed box.

Why not just turn the gain down on the amp?

You would much rather have more power then the sub will take then wanting more power for the sub.
