Question Planning a System - Help!

Hey guys,

I am planning to put a little bit of a system into my '91 300ZX Twin Turbo. I brought it over form Japan and the HU, while aftermarket, doesn't pick up our AM/FM band

I haven't bought an HU for a few years now and consider myself "out of the loop" when it comes to car audio these days.

I am planning to replace all four speakers, the HU and find a box for my old RF Punch XLC 12" sub for the hatch of the Z.

Can anyone suggest a good 'budget-ish' or good $-to-performance HU and speakers for my application? I like to turn it up loud, but I won't be competing or anything, just want to rock out to my tunes

Thanks!

If you are thinking of running two amps one for the Sub and one to run your speakers the 2006 Clarion DXZ765MP are on sale right now and also have a 24da converter and 3 pairs of rca outs Here

But if your running just one amp for the sub and running your speakers off deck power you can get away with the 2006 Clarion DXZ465MP Here

If you are running deck power for the speakers both HU's will work just fine. These are two that are pretty cheap and have lots of options. As for speakers do you plan on amping them?

Thanks for the reply.

I will likely just be running the speakers off the deck, and the sub off an amp.

Ha, doing that very car right now for a customer from CFB Comox. He also bought the 91 twin turbo from Japan. Lots of options in this vehicle if you really want a good system.

As for speakers find something around 40rms or so high efficently coaxials to run off deck power. Something like a JBL CS series or Infinity Ref series and you should be quite happy.

It is, unfortunately, an auto. I am using it as a drag car, racing on Friday nights @ Race City.

is there not a part that lets you keep the deck and get the am/fm
