Ive always had decks with 1 Bit D/A converters, but now im looking at getting one with Burr Brown 24 bit D/A's...Can anyone let me know what this means please? Im guessing something to do with the decks ability to decode the message on the source, and more cleanly....

 

^ you pretty much have the right idea... but I don't think there has been a single person who has been able to tell the difference between a 1bit and 24bit DAC in a double blind listening test........

 

Actually, one of the test I did for years was to use a Technics single bit cd player vs. a Denon multi bit CD player. Same amp, same speakers, same source materials, same room. Start both cd's at the same time and switch from source to source on the reciever, a $100.00 difference in the two units and 9/10 went with the Denon DCM340. Why, because they could hear as I did, a audable difference.

 

It does indeed suck blue whale but at the same time it was the pivotal point that brought cd players down in price by $100.00 as well. This opened up the marketplace to a great many more people.

 

Pioneer 860MP with 1 bit D/A or a Kenwood X889 with Dual 24 Bit Burr Browns? What would you all take...The pioneer costs more too...but boasts 6.5v preouts compared to the Kenwood 5

 

The 860MP uses 24bit Burr-Brown DAC's.

 

1 bit, 24 bit...perfect is analog.
