also who makes it.... there's texas instruments who mainstreams it for Denon (Home I know... Car??) but I saw a Sony CDX-7815 24/bit Burr Brown...... hmmmm now me thinky not same......

A downside to the 24 bit is they create a great deal more heat within the unit than compared to a 1 bit. And except for usually a price premium, that's about the only cons I can find to using 24 bit.

eventually there will be so many bits it'll become analog. why doesn't someone work on a way to make analog sound digital?

No matter how small the steps are, digital is still digital. The question is, at what point does the difference between the two become inaudible. I'm not a photographer, but at what point does a digital picture become indistinguishable?

As for analog to digital, it's done all the time. The human voice is not digital, but it gets recorded onto a CD, which is digital, then converted back.

Nothing beats live music......

BTW, I have a Nakamichi TD1200 Mk II up for sale.

a thousand years from now we'll have a sampling frequency of a zillion x 10^10 hz and it will still be digital but pretty close to analog. Maybe we can work on a better medium for capturing and reproducing analog without all the noise, flutter, and limited response that cost under $100.00 for hardware. Until then I will make do.
