Please help me fix my amp...
#22
I can assure you my input voltage to the amp is not too high... if anything a little low. Maybe the voltage to the FET's?
"A short after them"... could you maybe point out where I should be looking? Maybe from one of my pics? Would it be a resistor I'm after? The gate resistors are incoming or outgoing? I tested them and they are O.K. What else should I check? Something is making them pop.

To get you going. If you haven't yet, check the output and power supply devices first. You should remove them to test but if they are burnt, it's pretty easy to tell with the meter (they may show open or shorted... or have big holes in them, lol). Also check everything where you saw sparks happen...
Take a look at any voltage regulators/biasing feeding these devices. Check the protection circuit/s. Do you have a schematic? If you're still concerned and can't come to a conclusion, call the manufacture and have them repair it or have them suggest a shop. These big mega watt amps may get expensive to repair if many parts are burnt...
You've mentioned a low voltage issue. If and when you get this amplifier repaired or replaced, make sure your current and voltage numbers are sufficient. If not... you may be doing this all over again (if you like it loud that is, lol).
Hope this helps!

^^^ hahaha, thanks for the advice, but I think I stand a better chance fixing it myself over Ed. lol.
So after removing mine, Only one side went... 3 are blown right out, and 2 are obviously cracked. The grease shows the cracks nicely. I'll start checking over it again, see what else I can find.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Ed just opened an amp repair shop in Hamilton

Seems like a bunch of my gate resistor values are not adding up to their bands. Looks like I got some shopping to do.
Now what might be the cause of these resistors going? They would obviously cause the FET's to pop... but what would make them go? too much current draw?
