I have owned Pioneer, Kenwood and Alpine. To me the alpine was the most user friendly, sounded just as good as the other two (all triple 4 volt preouts).

Out of those three, I would go Alpine, then Pioneer slightly behind and I am very unimpressed with the looks / user friendly nature of my current Kenwood Excelon Deck. It is the X-890. I had the Alpine 9815 mmmmm so good, and Pioneer DEX-P9.

I would think about seeking a used Alpine 9815/9813/9835/9833 if it were up to me. Can probably find one around the $200 mark.

well 200 is not a hell of a lot for a deck - most decks that are any good are gonna be well over that amount (my deck has an $1100 M.S.R.P.) Btw you do know we are talking canadian dollars right?
