Preferred Decks?

DX- Was just stating you could get equipment in
/Scratch head.
So, I guess your Cav has spinners?
Mason in Calgary, its pretty easy to haggle prices with the shops there. Find a shop that'll beat a competitors price, get it in paper and take it to another one
But for 200, you should be able to get a pretty nice alpine, also check out the vendors on the forum, Seen a few eclipses' for sale

oh true that. ive crammed 11 speakers. 4 amps. 200feet of wire. a big *** cap. a digital processor. 2 3" speaker enclosures, 2 kick panels, about about 2.9 cubic feet of sub box into a regular cab pickup. without going blow through. theres no room for anything in the cab other then 2 people tho lol... but thats all there needs to be room for

I have a Panasonic cq-c9701u deck.. I picked it over a pioneer ,cuz still on this forum, you hear about grounding problems and whinning noise.. why have to deal with this problem once you amp your speakers with a pioneer deck, they are nice, but not worth dealing with that problem later on, because they all seem to be having that problem.. and kenwood, wow, i'd rather have my panasonic over kenwood. only the high end panasonic decks are worth it.. no problems yet, i'm super happy with it, has everything i need ..

Just to beat a dead horse more. Not one person in this 4 page thread has addressed SQ of any of these head units at all. The only point has been peoples "luck", and that is what it is. I can take a $75 CAD head unit, put it into a vehicle and have it last 5 year min. That doe snot qulify it as a head I would want processing all the little 1 and 0's that are on a disc, drive or Sat radio tuner. The units ability to process siganal is paramount and to out put it in the highest form within your budget. Then features: will you be running amplifiers, iPod (and yes and iPod can be loaded in WAV)? All of these factors will play into your decision. The past is jsut that the past. Alpine no longer offers thier Bass Engine Plus or Pro in the attainable price points since thier decision to sell in Best Buy USA 2 years ago. Thus something had to go, and that was the the "engine" of thier decks to lower the cost.
So you see, it matters little what I think of a manufacturer in the past, only what they choose to do now.
If you plan on runing amplifers, which you should, then the higher the pre-out voltage -unclipped- the better. The better the DA converter the better.
I have sold and used Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, Panasonic, and Sony in my lifetime. Companies change. Engineering and market positioning change the final product.
In your price point there are Excelon series Kenwood heads that would give you 4V unclipped preouts, 24 Bitt Burr-Brown DA converters, USB connectivity, and HPF/LPF's as well.

The 9886 is supposed to be basically the same crossovers/eq/ta, but no imprint.
Just because they've changed the name, doesn't mean they haven't got the features.
Granted, this doesn't help the OP, cause both decks are pretty pricy.

I have had a number of decks in my car including Alpine, JVC, Clarion, and Sony. My 2 favorite had to be the alpine and clarion but right now i have the clarion thouch screen the only problem with clarion is that they are very hard to use them but once you learn how to use it I think they are one of the best. PICK CLARION

Well to bust through the "posers" and the "haters" I'm a Kenwood guy and as mentioned before if you are planning on running some amplifiers later, spend a little more and find something with 4 volt/triple preouts and also selectable crossovers, best of luck...
