Pioneer is only involved in the manufacture of the XM tuner, not the Sirius one.
I have also heard this same comment regarding the sound quality difference from many of my accounts. I cannot comment on that personally but I will say that I'm very happy with the sound quality from my GEX-P920XM.

We can run the XM tuners in the shop after installation.
We can NOT run the Sirius tuners, they only work when the car is outside.....

All depends what you are looking for and where you are.

I like the XM Programing better myself.

I find it strange that XM repeaters are up and running while Sirius does not have repeaters on yet. Edmonton has Terrestrial signal for both coming in loud and clear. Suprise, Suprise, it works weather the radio is canadian or american.

Sirius units have been working in our shop, while XM have not. And we have a WINNERS above our shop. So I figure Sirius has some repeaters in Calgary working.
