Proof Jackhammers are wayyy overated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrHu0XOhQDk

The link is not the actual footage I saw on Mythbusters last night, but shows the actual MTX Escalade with 2 - 22" Jackhammers that they used. Well Mythbusters was testing the myth that some gangbangers had some loaded rifles in the car and set one off with the bass from their subs. LOL Sooo they get this car that has some square sub in it and started testing at 95db. LOL I think I can hit that with just my tweeters. Then they cranked it all the way up to 130.5 WOW now we're pounding. When that didn't work they got the MTX Escalade and at 160db after a 30sec tone sweep both woofers were producing copious amounts of smoke. Will keep my eyes out for the actual vid and post it. Had to laugh watching 10k worth of subs up in smoke.

not really a fair way to judge any product considering you know nothing of the build quality, specifications, condition of products, what source material and if the amps were set up right and not clipping, etc....The jackhammer may be a little extreme and more hype than anything, but to assume that mtx makes poor products is incorrect as they've more than proven themselves over the years. If they wanted too, they can easily compete with any woofer brand in the world, as they certainly have the means to engineer what they want. I've had nothing but great experiences with their products over the last 20+ years, so I have no problem using their equipment.

This was in an MTX demo vehicle, I would assume they would have setup the amps etc properly. The source was a tone generator providing a "clean input" so if these monster hyped subs can't take 30secs in their own demo vehicle at 160db I don't think I will be buying any soon.
BTW found the actual videos of the actual truck demo here...

And part 2 is here...

Sorry haven't mastered the embedding yet. If you just go on youtube and search for SydR0V1tuV8 and/or AzBy4lvqaEo it will get you to the right page. Or search for "Mythbusters woofer weaponry" will also work.
