I'll play devils advocate here and just mention that there have been a few cars that have won first place in IASCA SQ finals with Q Forms. Gary Biggs built two that I know of for sure. So they can sound good when reinforced properly, and I would rather do it that way than have a shop that doesn't know what they are doing as far as staging and imaging go, trying to build them.

Truth be told, I would have bought Q-forms in an instant if they didnt cost so damned much
If they were reasonably less than a set of custom ones, I would have definitely got them, but the price came out to be almost more for the premade ones, in the end...

these so called custom kicks for 200 bucks....
Ive seen those before...
If an installer can make molded custom kicks to match for 200 bucks, then that makes me think 2 things..
1) crap quality custom work.
2) Good quality but the installer has no clue how to quote a job
I would still prefer to see the custom work done, because done properly custom will be better. but q-forms are a good value

I still dont understand how placing a speaker 10 cm forward in the kick panel can make so much difference in sound ???
In My CRX , the door speaker is virtually 10 cm from the kickpanel.....
I dunno..........

Here's how to tell the difference. Measure from the drivers door speaker center to your left ear when seated in the drivers seat, now do the same from the passenger speaker to your right ear. Find the difference (l-r=difference)
Now do the same from the kickpanels. What do you find? Less pathlength difference right, and that makes all the difference.
