question..amount of power.
What would be the maximum(yet safe) rms rating for a mono amp that I can put in my car....without using a high output alt.
-The big 3 will be done.
-a better battery will be installed.....(replace stock one)
-stock alternator is 90 amps.
will still be keeping the front stage amplified.(amp-60 rms x2)
Thanks.

what kind of equipment were you looking to run? I'd guess somewhere close to 1000 watts, given that most of the time due to other factors you won't see 1000 watts worth of power, but thats the music's fault. I ran 500 rms off stock everything but I used to get some wicked dimming sometimes, but then I found out that it was because some of my songs were severely clipped

this question is presented incorrectly.
you should be asking what is the maximum amount of amperage you can be consuming.
and need to know what battery.
i would say no more than 100 amps. which is roughly 900-1000 watts if you are using a class D amp.
after that your alternator begins to take a good beating.
