questions about the pioneer 6500
#1
i have the screen and i bought it to a shop to see if its in working order or not, the screen is not pulling out by itself and there is no display when the screen is closed. the guy at the shop is telling me it's not pulling out and the display is not working because it's not hooked up to the brain. is this true? he said he checked the ribbon cables for the front display and he said they were fine.

No, this information is not exactly true. The unit will work without the "brain" as the brain only houses the A/V inputs & outputs as well as the antenna lead.
The unit is obviously having problems with it's top half as that half encompases both the motorized LCD touch panel & the secondary LCD screen.
Since your profile says you're in Scarborough, I would recommend that you speak with Pioneer service in Markham at the number listed below. They are the only service centre authroized to repair these units & they should be able to give you an honest repair quote.
Good luck!
