At least they are getting rid of those flat cones on some models.
Its funny how a few people managed to make it look like there was a huge defect rate with these when infact there was only a handful or so. We haven't had a single e15A.22 come back and we sold a number of them.

The new Av.2 may use a similar/same basket but that is about it.

A company doesn't redesign the back of the cone for only a handfull of cases. Granted it is an excellent speaker but enough had problems with them for me to go with RE.
I believe ED is a great company but I was dissapointed in the E15a.

I'm pretty sure it was a supply problem more than anything that changed the design, or maybe that's just what they said?

Anyways the 15av2 only has like 31mm xmax, so I really wouldn't consider it that much as competition. RE's new sub has 4.5" p2p (IIRC)(56mm one-way) suspension travel as well.

once again, have you heard the e15a? or are you disappointed because of the threads you read where people had problems with them.I've had mine since october feeding it over 1000 watts from a crossfire vr1000d and no problems. If you haven't heard it, why bother commenting.

also they changed from flat cones because of their supplier, couldn't keep up with the demand.Ben even states that if the supplier could keep up he never would have changed from the flat cone design

After more than a handfull of customers had problems with their's I couldn't afford to take the chance to pay for shipping it back to ED just in case and I was in need of a sub so.....
To restate, it is a great sounding/performing speaker but for those that wanted a sub even better than the e15sp for comps, in some respect it was, but I feel many were let down. Including myself.
And the redesing was not because of part availability, they added an aluminum backing to the cone's rear to combat the breaking joint problem.
The abandon of the flat cone altogether was because of part availability.
