Rear View Camera Hookup onto Pioneer P4100DVD

Hey Guys,

I just ordered a Rear View Camera from Boyo Vision: http://www.visiontechamerica.com/products/vtl420c.html

I currently have a Pioneer P4100DVD and was wondering what the best way to hook it up so when I go into reverse, the screen will automatically change to the rear camera. Also, how would I be able to wire it up so that I can view the rear view camera when I'm not in reverse?

Thanks!!

ummmmome people steel a signal from your reverse lights you can put a limit switc or just a little clicker switch inside your console for when you put it in reverse or you can just get a normal switch and turn it on and off as you please...

Use the vehicles reverse wire to turn the camera on and to switch the deck over to the camera.
Use a relay to incorporate a switch to manually switch it over.

Pin 87 12V from Vehicle Reverse Wire
Pin 87a 12V from Switched Source
Pin 30 12V output for Reverse Wire on Deck and Camera Power
Pin 85 Ground
Pin 86 12V with Switch for manual opperation

Hope that helps

Hi stephenfleming,

Thanks for the reply, Would you happen to have a diagram or a picture of this? I'm kind of a novice when it comes to hooking up this and as it most likely sounds right, I'd have a hard time hooking it up.

If I understand correctly,

Pin 87 12V - Can I tap into the reverse backup light?
Pin87a 12V - not too sure what this is.
Pin30 12V - Goes to the camera power from the reverse light?
Pin 85 - A regular ground I suppose
Pin 86 - Hook up to a regular rocker switch for use when not in reverse.

Am I understanding this correctly? =)

Thanks!

Sorry mixed up 2 pins.
87 should be a switched 12V
87a should be the Vehicle Reverse wire.

I can do up a diagram, but it won't be til about midnight.
Not at my computer at the moment.

A diagram would be great,

Can you tell me exactly which wires to hook it up to?

Thanks!

OK, So I just found out that my deck supports viewing the camera even though not in reverse. So If i'm thinking straight.

On the Camera:

Video Cable - Goes to Video input on headunit
Power - Goes to 12V Input (Will hook it up to existing 12V source to the head unit)
Ground - Goes to any metal ground in the car.

On the headunit:

Switch source - Goes to reverse lamp.

Does this sound right?
