They should take 1k rms. I heard a Type-X in a single-cab 1500, it was in the middle of the seat in a ported Alpine box on a JL 1000/1, it was down on output & sq. There's a lot better gear than Alpine. Why not recommend the best thing? Listen to a couple in sealed boxes before buying. The cone will sound different on almost every sub. You want quiet cone noise, crisp tonal quality, and if you're on a budget, good efficiency. If you can't hear your music than buy speakers. If you want SQ and to be loud sometimes, get a JL 18W6 and a 500W amp or 2 12" SSA Dcon's and a 600W amp. You'll have to be more specific, what vehicle, what do you listen to, and what have you heard before? If you havn't heard a balanced system, the bass in one doesn't overtake the speakers but a lot of rap music calls for heavy bass. You're pretty much saying you want your speakers to play as loud as the bass, well anything is doable.

If they smell like power than there cooking ^_^. Listen to something that's overkill and you'll see why the Type-X is prefered by people that havn't properly researched brands.
