Smile Recommendation for system and Ottawa based install...

Just joined this morning...what a great site!

I know this is not a pure car audio request but this site appears to be the only one where I will get an honest un-biased (product and install) reply.

I am looking to replace the OEM stereo in my girlfriends 06 Lexus RX330 with a all-in-one unit that provides:

Radio/XM Sat/Nav/Bluetooth/IPOD Int/Voice Rec?

As an example, i have seen the Pioneer AVIC-F models.

Any recommendations on such a unit and who in Ottawa to install same?

Also - Can a XM Sat install be setup to connect to the U.S. based XM versus Canadian? My girlfriend's XM mobile subscription is US based and it appears that XM/Sirius are now merged in the U.S. but not Canada yet (way more channels - no Canadian content restrictions)

Any and all help would be appreciated!

Best,
M

I am not sure about the subscription part but as for buying and installing go see Shon at Future Shop in South Keys.

The XM cannot be connected to the US side of the industry. All the serial #'s of the units are tracked and locked off to either Canada or the US, depending on where they aer purchased. If you must have a US subscription, a XM interface must be puchased from the US and shipped up.

If Sirius is a option, Canadian based, I had a incredible deal last month on the Eclipse AVN6620. I am sold out on it now but a phone call to my rep on friday confirmed that the distributor had 5 left in stock. I might be able to get the same deal or really darn close to it. It would fit your needs perfectly and in my opinion provide a better platform for you than the Pioneer F series. The Pioneer is a great basic system and I can provide it to you as well, the Eclipse is too good of a deal to pass up if I get it again. Normal retail on it was $2500 inc. the bluetooth unit, I had them in stock on sale for $1000.

ECLIPSE Car Navigation and Audio Systems | Fujitsu Ten for info on the unit. Definitely go see Shon at FS for your install.

Is Shon still at FS? ... I stopped by a while ago on one of his usual days and he wasn't there.

I haven't heard from that guy in months
