:-) Thanks! I didn't know they (once) made them. Now if only Mark Levinson sold their car stereos through dealers.....

323i Professional stereo

Does anyone know if this stereo has pre-amp outputs (so that I can add an amplifier)?

Thanks!

Yeah..... certainly an option. My concern is that I won't be happy with the sound and then I'll have to replace the head unit anyways. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thanks!

Well, i'm not too familiar with these model: 582Z & 600II. but from what i remember.. Nak made the "best" cassette decks in the early days. and then i believe there were the Tangberg.

about 5 years ago, an audiophile customer of mine gave me one of his cassettes (from approx around the 70s) made by... i believe it was a Nakamichi 1000. done with a Linn TT, Fulton cables with some big dollar cartridge. It sounded very musical and alive with air around all the instruments etc. not easy to get from a CD nowadays. (it was play through a Nak TD-1200II car deck).

I have personally owned the Nak LX-3, ZX-9 and the CR-7A. and i was quite happy with them. Its actually what i used to make all my demo tapes from in the 80s.

I agree! I used to tell people that I could make a cassette recording of an LP that would sound better than their original CDs. Needless to say, most of these folks were blown away by the blind tests. I still love my Ariston, Linn, Blue Point Special combo better than any CD player I have owned.

ZX-9s and CD-7As are beautiful machines! Tapes made on my 582Z (3 head, adjustable bias and tape/head calibration) from good source material onto metal tapes were virtually indistinguishable from the original sources. I love my 582Z, although I have to be honest and state that I listen to digital sourced music in my office and car.

But sitting in the den with my big B&Ws being fed by Conrad-Johnson tubed pre & power amps and a pristine LP spinning on the Ariston can't be beat!!
