Replacing the sub in a 'Premium' Infinity system

Replacing the sub in a 'Premium' Infinity system
I've been on the fence for a long time with this, but now that the weather is decent, it's time to finally do something.
I've posted about it a few times before, but just so everybody is on the same page, my plan is to replace the weaksauce stock 8" sub and its enclosure with one of my old Coustic HT-812's in a ported enclosure.
Right now I don't plan to change anything else, I want to see how just swapping out the sub will work. I'm reasonably sure the stock amp puts out 2x50WRMS to the sub, and my Coustic is rated for 90WRMS though I'd been feeding it 110 for years.
I figure by going to a larger (and I think more efficent) sub in a properly tuned ported enclosure I should get some reasonable bass gain without too much effort.
If there is anybody in the Edmonton area who might have some free time to help me build the box, that would be super helpful. I have pretty much all the tools needed, with the exception of a table saw, and I'm an apartment dweller, so I don't really have anywhere to actually do the building (unless I do it on a construction site I'm working on)
If anybody has any suggestions or criticism I'm all ears.

It should work, but bear in midn the OEM amp is bandpassed from about 60-100hz so you'll still have that limitation. You are much better off just getting a small amplfier to power the sub and grab the signal before the infinity amp

I hadn't thought of that but I'll definitely keep it in mind. I do have an amp kicking around I could run it off of, but this is in a Jeep and I've got the soft top on for the summer, so I want to keep the stealables to a minimum. I figure I'll try it out like this first, see how it sounds and go from there.
