How much do the p2, p3, type r sell for? Do you plan on buying online or from the shop?

P2 definitely not...P3 on par with Alpine type R. I've owned both and I like them equally, both are good subs in their price range, and both sound very good when installed in the right enclosure.

alright...in terms of SQ the P2 sounds the same as the P3, it just can't get as loud. Use any decent brand name amp that delivers 250 watts rms per sub, so if you have 2 subs, then get a 500 watt rms amp, and the right voice coil configuration to get the power from the amp. Example, if you get dual 4 ohm subs (2 of them), then you can have either a 4ohm or 1 ohm final load, therefore get either an amp that delivers 500 watts at 4ohms or 500 watts at 1 ohm (4 ohms is preferable if you can afford it and it fits your installation design goals).

Subwoofer amp hardly matters since the frequency range is extremely narrow. As long as they can deliver the power your sub needs, the price is right for you, and doesn't crap out, that's all that matter. I go with class D since sub amp delivers a lot of power, and going class AB simply put too much "unnecessary" stress on the alternator. One thing you want to keep an eye on is the subsonic filter on the amp, whether it is variable or fixed. Variable will give you more control of what freq gets cut out. The built in LPF also hardly matters, be it 12/18 db slope. If you have a head unit that can do 12/18/24, you can then just set the LPF freq higher than where you want it cut off, then use your HU to cross over the signal. I use alpine, simply because I got it cheap and it's rock solid.

EDIT: OK I'm an idiot. I thought you were talking about sub amp LOL. Anyway, I'd take the type R over P1, P2, P3.

thanks for all ur help, its relly been helpfull, ive heard the p1s in best buy they seemed loud and there 150 rms each so 300 rms in total, do u think for a first time system buyer a 500rms sub is enough? i dont want a system , something that you can feel the base 4 cars down. will this do that?
