Running off 110 Volts
#1
I would like to know how to run my system off 110 volts as I've seen at some of the in door shows.Any info or where to look for it would be great.

AC/DC convertor. It's what you think it is, it converts 110 AC to 12 VDC. You can use anything that creates 12-16VDC. The key factor is the maximum Amps that the supply will put out. You will most likely want something that puts out 30-50 AMPs for a relatively small system. A convertor like that will run a couple hundred bucks brand new I think. To discover the amperage output required, add up the fuse ratings on all of the equipment you intend to wire up.
As for me, I use old PC power supplies. An average PC power supply pushes 12VDC 8AMPs MAX. Wire a few of these up parallel, and you can have 16, 24, 32 etc Amp output. Although there are a few nay-sayers around here who say that this is not a good way of doing it, it works fine for me.

hey, let me tell you something,
i have an ac/dc converter, and a metallica converter, and lots of others. They take crappy music/grunting by Ja Rule and turn it into classic rock. Just put the cd in the machine, it is burned (destroyed) and the classic rock cd is ejected from the machine.
Like an ac/dc converter actually exists!!??? You know how they run car audio at your local electronics megachain superstore? That's right, they have a vented room full of old k cars. The only car that can supply enough power for the sub bass frequencies. They wanted to buy mine from me, but it was already equipped with a NOS sticker so they didn't want to spring for something so high performance.
