Scott Buwalda's Presentation
#11
I downloaded the session but the video part didn't really work. Anyways, my first impression.
Use of exotic materials.......... is birch an exotic material?? Since when??
Attention to detail statement.......... enuf already. There was a lot of repetition of certain statements that started to become annoying and distracting. Yuck.
Definitely not the best overall presentation I've heard......... that goes to Uncle Larry C and his Caddy.
Moving car around by the amp rack and the sub is cool !! I liked that. Summarizing at the end was a great way to leave an impression in the Judges head about the important things from a 10 minute presentation. Use of space - awesome. I'm always impressed with vehicles that can be used in real life.
I still believe that competitors should gear their presentation to follow the judging criteria point for point. Do a dog and pony show to demostrate and explain exactly why you should be getting full points for each item. When you're done your presentation, you should have explained exactly why you should be getting perfect across the board. Leave all other issues out of your presentation as they will get you no points. POINTS, that's what wins and what you MUST concentrate on. Also, your photo log should be setup to assist in the presentation for things that can not be accessed. When you're done the dog and pony show, the judges should have ZERO questions about your install and how to score you. If you're getting anything less then perfect, try to find some time to talk to the judges (in a friendly manner as you want them to help you out) to see what you missed. EVERYONE should be getting perfect scores on install.

^^ I agree with Tom, a lot of the stuff he said, was said over and over again, to the point that it was annoying.
Like how many times can you say attention to detail in 3 minutes?
The idea of the presentation was good, and was he demonstrated was good, but he has to learn to speak properly.

Remember that the Altima was built to compete in a street class, He got max points I am sure at IASCA finals when he competed in Street X. At SBN he moved up to Ultra X with no changes to the vehicle. Kinda hard to max out install points then, even Mark Eldridge doesn't get max points I am sure.
As for not liking Scott, that's one's perogotive. I will say this though. He is a true competitor who is not afraid to compete with the best and even win's even though he doesn't have the resources of most in his class. He is always willing to share any info about his system, from processor settings to how things are constructed. Just check out the thread on underdash panels on Carsound, I know alot of people ran out and used the ideas he gave on that subject as soon as they could. Also he is really a great sport, happy to make the podium, but just as happy when others do.

i agree, how can you talk about, for lack of a better word, a boring install for 10 minutes. i dont see any way around repeating yourself. it did get a little redundant, but then again i dont see how eldridge can get it all in in only 10 minutes, i kinda liked the dig at the competition, planting that in the judges mind, and maybe they will remember it. its unfortunate that something like a presentation can be the difference between winning and losing. if a guy loses because he has a major public speaking issue, gets nervous, forgets stuff, pisses himself, whatever, but his car sounds better and his install is great, there is something wrong about that. presentation should be worth 5 points and install 50 points and sound quality should be 500 or something like that, in my sorry a$$ opinion.

Nice presentation.............I think 5 minuits could have done it.
Kind of stretching it for creativity points ,like my subs use the 6X9 holes and window to load ?, and the spare tire (his competition trailers his Truck, so He doens't need a spare tire....lol)
Any count the number of times "creative" "Vey Very" or "custom" are used....lol
Notice when He pushes the car some guys starts yelling, WO WO WW.....that was me.
If I remember correctly Scott lost on creativity alone. Mark E max'd out on creativity
