While you might have the physical space to mount the 3 12" drivers down there, your limiting factor is going to be the box. Figure out how much box space you will have, then choose 1,2 or 3 subs based on that. I would also consider the DD 8" driver, we used it in a small slot port box and it just plain blew away any other sub that was anything near comparable for that size of box. (1.25cu.ft)

I heard 4 10s (SWS10 from Equathquake) in a 1.3 cuft box, behind the seat of a 2004 quadcab on the back wall against the rear seat and it made the snot come out of head it pounded so hard.

I did a '05 Nissian Frontier with he Poineer 10, its sounded good just was missing the low down dirty bass that I love....

Well the pioneers need only .5 cu each so thats why i was thing bout using 3 of em.

i just don't know about an 8" it seems small. I like loud and deep bass will an 8" even give me that?

Realize as well that when a manufacturer lists the smallest size box, it is usually the smallest size box that can still produce some type of output but it is in 99% of the cases, far from the desired output. If you want 3, then do 3, if you want to explore the importance of the box and the room you have available, then choose the number of drivers, do that as well. In any case you are going to get some output, the type and how much is up to you and the research that you do. Good bass response is all about the box.

That is something i have overlooked. Do you know if these shallow mounts can be used in a ported box? it'd sure be nice if 1 12" would pound hard.

learn to use a box design program and model the things..... shallow mount are nice but as MR2NR points out it dosen't necassarilly mean they will work well in a really small box.......

I looked at both subs and as I recall the earthquakes seemed like they were a much more powerfull driver then the pioneers; but I have not listened to either of them....
