Hey I was wondering how much the customs and brokerage fees are when shipping from US to Canada. Say, if I wanted to buy a head unit from someone in the states on eBay. Thank ya.

Get it shipped United States Postal service (USPS) You won't have to pay any brokerage fees and it goes through customs WAY WAY faster than UPS or Fedex. You will have to pay GST and PST, I can't remeber if you pay duty or not. Make sure you get it insured though, USPS can loose things.

Pretty well multiply the selling price by 1.6 than add the taxes (whatever they are in your province). If the deck has an LCD screen there is huge duty on it...LCD screen have a hign duty. Remember about warranty, there is no warranty on product bought in the US in Canada. How do I know,I work for the biggest distributor in Canada...

Get it shipped USPS. You pay tax on whatever the declared value is. If you can get the guy that shipping it to declare it lower, then you won't have to pay as much. As ask him to mark it down as a gift. This saves on brokerage.

For sure, I got an RF amp recently, sent it USPS, got up here in a very short time, didn't have to pay any GST/PST or any other fees, too, unless the bill is in the mail.....

Hey Ross. If it was shipped USPS, then there's no bill in the mail. I just got my head unit and it was shipped FedEx. I didn't have to pay anything when they dropped it off, but I will get a bill from customs later.

Most of the places I have bought from down there will honour the manufacturers warranty...unless there is any hint of abuse of the product...then you are SOL.

Warren.

Definitely go USPS...no brokerage...minimum $28 brokerage with UPS and similar with FedEx...sometimes the brokerage doesn't get charged, but most times it will.

You will always have to pay GST and PST unless someone screws up. So get the package declared for as little as possible.

There will be duty ONLY if it was manufactured outside the U.S. (eg. Japan).

Thanks Warren! I wonder how I got away with not paying any GST/PST? It was a used product, maybe that was why......
