shop hours?

This is kind of an informal poll. What are your shop hours? I'm asking because there are two guys in my shop(installers) and normally we work M-W 11-7:30, T-Sat either 10-6 or 12-9 and Sun 11-6. Now they want us to work M-Thurs 11-9, Fri 3-9 or 10-5:30 Sat&Sun the same as before. The managment is concerned that we are missing business not having installers after 7:30pm. I don't think that's the case. I was just wondering if anyone else in the industry thinks the same. 10.5 hour days and working every weekend seems a bit much to me.

Get a 3rd guy back in your bay.
Then have them complain about being over hours and not having enough work to afford the 3rd guy.

That's exactly what they'll do, I'm trying to find a solution that they can't say no to. If most other businesses are sucsessful not being open all those hours then why are we? If we really are losing that business then it would support a third guy, even if he's part time. I don't think we are missing business, at least not enough to support such hours. I think that the sales team is not focused on SELLING install. They offer it to customers but they don't show the value. You guy's are doing fine, what are your hours?

We are open 10-6 on Mondays, 10-7 Tuesday to Friday, 10-6 on Saturadys and Closed on Sundays. These hours work great for us, sometimes if we are working late on something we will keep the doors open and sometimes you might get the odd people coming in but majority of people come in during normal buisness hours.

Now I'm assuming that you guy's are not struggling to get cars in, but do you feel that your "missing" any business by not being open late? I have to explain to management why it's a waste of wages for us to be open that late. They're not auto enthusiasts and don't understand that the car industry(that includes the service end)isn't open retail hours.

I hear ya man.
I'm trying to be done here at 6-6:30 on a Saturday, the Store is DEAD (well Car Audio anyways)
Everything in the plaza closes so people dont drive in cuz everything looks closed, and you cant even really see our store from the main road.
We maybe miss 1 or 2 customers, but book them in for Sunday, it's only one sleep away

I work for a big box store and I think that's the problem. They don't understand anything but retail. The management thinks that because we're open that people will come in and buy. There seems to be no listening on they're part. They complain that it would be more profitable to not run the bay so they extend the hours to solve the problem?
