I have Sirius and love it. Check out a couple of forums and see what people like and dislike:
www.siriusbackstage.com
www.xmfan.com
Many will say that Sirius's playlist is not as deep. That is good to some people and bad to some people. For every person who drops sirius because they think they are hearing the same songs, somebody is dropping XM for Sirius because they "will go for hours without hearing a song I recognize."
I got a 3 day online pass for XM, and it seemed ok, but the connection kept dropping. I don't have that issue with Sirius.
If you are into sports, that might help make your decision too:
NFL: Sirius
MLB: XM
Those are the big 2, imo.
It has been my experience on the car audio forums that many will say "just get XM" because XM has more subscribers. I have seen that argument time and time again. I NEVER knew that because one service(or product) outsold another, it somehow made it "better."

I have personally had both for over 3 years combined. I like the Sirius better. Because I agree with PerryB. On xm you havn't heard of half the songs and the sirius is all well known play lists. I also like the equipment better and the way the information comes across the screen. The sirius will show you the whole title and artist (scrolling) and the XM cuts half or more off.
I say sirius oh ya and howard stern will be here on Jan1/06

The reception problem is beeing fixed on XM, since it was never "legal" in Canada why spend the money on satalights for here. Now that it will be legal additional sats. are being put in. As for SQ, XM from what i hear is better.
